In the Philippine scene, nobody is anybody until he or she is impersonated by Jon Santos. Having perfected the art of acting, costume and make-up, Jon becomes the person; a better version in fact, because it’s a much, much funnier version. Anyone most especially  bureaucratic bores who somehow land on the news become hilarious, endearing creatures in the hands of Jon Santos (Actually, in the hands, face, body and voice of Jon). So just imagine what a riot he can create with characters who are already colorful or absurd to start with.

Jon has been impersonating and imitating people for nineteen (19) years now. His material thrives on who’s hot at the moment, but some of his best-loved characters are the enduring classics:  These are “Ate Vi”, “Basana Roces”, “Armida Sigyon-Makareyna”, “Sherap Espada (& his wife, “Sen. Lhoy”) Shawie”, “Bro. Mike Volare”, “Tita Kory”, “Sen. Juan Flavor”, “Sen. Meeryam”, “Pres. Gloring”, “Krissy Anino”, “Ara”, “Joyce”, “Mawee Tailor-ing” and the latest addition to the repertoire, "Okrah Weenfree".

But nothing captures half the adlibs, the brilliant spur-of-the-moment remarks that add tons to the character that he is at the moment of a live performance. The costumes, the make-up, the voice and the delivery can keep audiences laughing for over an hour non-stop. As they say, everybody in the Philippines is a comedian. But you can count on one hand the few successful ones on TV and live stage. And in that select list of impersonators, absolutely no one surpasses the  most  gifted impersonator. There is only one JON SANTOS!.

Jon Santos is the most dedicated performance artist I know who not only does justice but brings honor to his craft of comedy as well. Whether it is impersonation or stand up, he always makes sure he does his homework and delivers comic entertainment beyond expectation. I am a fan, I admit, and a gushing one at that. But please note that I am NOT easy to please. Jon is one of few people in the scene who can really make me laugh beyond belief and I have applauded his every performance I have witnessed.

His serious preparation and meticulous attention to his craft is testimony to his utmost respect for his audience. That to me is the mark of someone true to his craft and deserving of every adulation heaped on him by his increasing hordes of fans.
More power! More shows. And continue taking us, your audience, to greater heights of sublime laughter! We love you Jon!
